* Licorice, Wheat, and Jujube Decoction (gan mai da zao tang)

Chief: Fu Xiao Mai

Deputy: Gan Cao, Da Zao

Pattern: Restless organ disorder (zang zao); injury to the Heart Yin, Liver Qi, and Spleen Qi.

Indications: Disorientation, frequent attacks of melancholy and crying spells, inability to control oneself, restless sleep (sometimes with night sweats), frequent bouts of yawning, a red tongue with a sparse coating, and a thin, rapid pulse. In severe cases, the behavior and speech become abnormal.  This is called restless organ disorder (zang zao), an emotional condition that is generally due to excessive worry, excessive anxiety, or excessive pensiveness.
