Stomach pain

Pattern: Static blood in Stomach

Key symptoms: Stabbing Stomach pain of fixed location which increases with pressure, vomiting blood or black stools. Dark purple tongue, rough, thready pulse. 

Formula: Shi xiao san [Sudden Smile Powder] / Dan shen Yin [Salvia Decoction]

Treatment method: Quicken the blood, abduct stagnation, rectify Qi, relieve pain.

Acupuncture: Ren12 zhong wan, ST36 zu san li, Pericardium-6 nei guan, SP4 gong sun, ST34 liang qiu, ST21 liang men.

Formula Ingredients: 

Shi xiao san: Chao wu ling zhi (dry-fried Excrementum Trogopterrori), pu huang.

Dan shen Yin: Dan shen (Radix Salviae miltiorrhizae), tan xiang, Sha ren (Fructus Amomi)

Modifications: For vomiting blood or bloody stools, add san Qi, bai ji, di yu

For vacuity-cold of the Spleen and Stomach with failure of the Spleen to secure the blood, use huang tu tang

In case of vacuous Yin with blood heat, add Bei sha shen (Radix Glehniae), Sheng di huang (Radix Rehmanniae), Mu dan pi (Cortex Moutan) , E jiao (Asini Corii Colla), Mai men dong (Radix Ophiopogonis)

For chronic bleeding due to Qi and blood deficiency, use gui pi tang
